Filming my Trailer (Drafting and Planning)

Here are the clips of the filming of my trailer, I have added all the clips even though some will not be used...
Some of the clips have been filmed more than once...

This is the establishing shot, it is a low angle shot, from the protagonist's point of view, this shot immediately establishes the genre as it is evident the woman is not alone, and the footsteps in the attic reinforce this.

This is the same shot, again I made sure I used the Handheld camera effect that is evident in paranormal activity. I also shot the lights on the ceiling to imply it is a present film not set in another decade/century.

In this clip I used a high angle shot, to make her appear inferior to whatever it is above her in the attic, through her face expression and the way she follows the footsteps on the ceiling it is evident that she is terrified, her husband who lays next to her fast asleep is clearly oblivious to whatever it is going on and therefore the character is more vulnerable and isolated.

Here I used another high angle shot to reinforce vulnerability as the protagonist ascends the stairs into the attic, the use of digetic dialogue 'Is that you Mark?'  implies the stereotypical binary opposition of man and woman and how the woman looks to the man for reassurance when in a vulnerable situation.  The lights turning off create audience anticipation and reinforce the genre as she is clearly not alone.

A long shot of the protagonist acceding the stairs towards the attic, is effective, I used slow editing in this particular clip to enhance audience anticipation as the protagonist enters the unknown and steps further away from the safe haven (her home) and into danger (the attic).

This shot shows the woman opening the attic, she hears the footsteps and decides to go and explore to see where or whom the footsteps are coming from. The audience are aware at this point that she in ascending into danger.

This clip is effective as the woman is almost in denial, she hears the footsteps but does not immediately go and check out the attic, she waits till she hears them again almost as if she ignores them the first time but the second time ensures she is not hearing things but there is in fact an intruder.

This is an outtake

This is also an outtake

This clip is where I took inspiration from Paranormal Activity, the long shot shows the girl watching the couple sleep then she goes around and whispers in the protagonist's ear almost as if to posses her.

In the clip my dad starts laughing so again this is another outtake.

Another Outtake

Another Outtake

This is the mirror scene here the woman looks in mirror slightly after the girl was just behind her. This then tells the audience something the protagonist is oblivious too this is an effective device to add to audience anticipation and suspense.

Again the same mirror shot the woman looking in the mirror as if she may be aware she is not alone.

This is a shot of the protagonist in the attic, she looks around quite intrigued. She is looking to see where the footsteps come from but curiosity means she begins to be more interested in the attic than what is hiding in the attic.

This is the long shot showing the girl in the attic. the protagonist is unaware of her presence but the audience can see her and again are filled with absolute fear and terror. Again the digetic dialogue, reinforces the stereotypical view of the woman depending on a man when feeling vulnerable.

This shot I am going to use a straight cut to show the girl being there then all of a sudden she has disappeared. Again adding to the suspense felt by the audience.
