First Mock Up (Magazine) (Drafting and Planning)

Using Paint.net the canvas size 3500 x 2480 I created my first Little White Lies Magazine cover. I am very pleased with my first mock up and here is how I created it.

I based my cover on this previous Little White Lies cover, I really liked the use of creativity and abstract way it was presented, I thought doing this on a horror film but it was actually very easy and using a technique I learnt last year in AS I was able to create an effect very similar to 'The Master'

In this I used the colour aberration too, to give a retro, club kind of vibe. This could be used as an album cover or art work in the magazine. It looks very artistic and fits with the theme that 'Little White Lies' magazine tries to create. I used this effect last year whilst experimenting with pictures of Megan Fox.
I wanted to use it last year but it did not fit with the magazine I was trying to create, however this year it works really well as an abstract/creative cover.

Little White Lies is a niche market, indie magazine, however although it can be considered an independent magazine, it does cover big blockbuster movies within its film reviews and magazine covers.
The film 'Her' is just one of the many reviews featured in this issue of Little White Lies. The studio is Annapurna Pictures which is the same studio I am using for my trailer.

Edited Photos (Drafting/Planning)

Here I edited the Photos I think I may use and tried out all different effects to see which ones I preferred and which looked the best. I used Whiteagram and Instagram to achieve these effects.

Walden creates an old photograph very light effect, this is effective as it reinforces that the girl does not fit society she is different, old and does not belong to a regular community and the aspects of an Internal moster are portrayed through both effect and medium close up camera shot.

This close up shot of half her face, conceals her character as she creates a very mysterious character. Her stern serious look again reinforces the horror genre and the pale skin and her reflect that of a dead person and the girl of the Ring.

The dark shadows under her eyes, make her look worn and old, this photo reminds me of Dickens Mrs Havisham, through her miserable face and the wedding dress the only bright thing in the picture.

I edited this photo using Instagram and again the old photo effect is portrayed, the use of direct address entices the audience but also scares them off again, reiterating the idea that it is in fact a horror genre.

This is the same photo, however I added more contrast, to really emphasis the dark shadows to make her look almost dead and very creepy, I got this inspiration from the girl from The Ring as she has a similar look to my scary character.

I edited it and turned up the brightness here, and again the main focus is on her face and the use of direct address, the white background and the white dress blend together so her face is the main focus.
